Purpose

The catalog brings licenses and license-adjacent infrastructure into one evidence-based view. It covers preference signals, formal terms, licensing collectives, markets, tollgates, technical controls, registries, protocols, governed sharing, and certification.

It serves creators, rights holders, researchers, journalists, data stewards, AI developers, policymakers, and others who need a shared map of the field and its terminology.

Maintenance

Nick Vincent maintains the catalog and has final editorial approval. Public profiles are reviewed on a rolling basis, with current records scheduled for a source check at least once every three months.

Corrections and additions are handled in the publicGitHub repository.
